Title: Windows XP Media Center
Post by: spock on February 06, 2009, 12:06:45 PM
Everytime I try to do something that requires a media player, I get a box that pops  up asking me to install Windows Media Player 10. I have another media player I like better, and it's preventing me from using it. How do I remove it? I've done searches all over my computer trying to find it, but I can't.

I would configure the file association to "always open" with the alternate player. You can right click on the file, and go to open with, then choose program, then select the player from the list and check the box for "always open with this" for the player.

That should take care of it unless there are any certificates that are declaring Windows Media Player on launch, such as copyright material or material that has to confirm licensing with a server before playing.
