Title: Windows reboot error 50 Error loading operating system
Post by: Knipper64 on February 07, 2009, 10:53:05 AM
Hi  I recently reformatted my computer and reinstall windows XP, everything works fine while installing and Windows XP comes up no problem. However when I go to reboot after a fresh install, it goes through the sequence of seeing the motherboard, but then a timer starts counting on the computer and it will not boot back up into Windows XP. I tried shutting down the computer disconnecting and reconnecting the hard drives still nothing. However I am able to reinstall a fresh copy of XP, but when I reboot the same problem again.  Does anyone know the cause of the problem?

Here is what it says when I go to reboot RPL-ROM-FCC: 50 Error loading operating system

Is HD present in BIOS?

How can you tell? I am thinking it is a Bios problem, when I go to search for the Bios for a MSI motherboard K8T Neo2 V2.0 or MS-7094 it does not show up on there web site. They have similar motherboards, but not my particular one. Do you know where I can download the BIOS?

No, no. You can access BIOS at computer's startup.
When your computer starts, still at the black screen, you'll see at the bottom something like:
Press some key to enter setup
Setup means BIOS.
What computer brand is it?

Yes I know I can enter into setup, I halfway fixed the problem when I restart now, the computer says Failure to read floppy drive, but if I hit F1 it boots into windows. I went and checked the boot sequence and put CD Rom first then the hard drives, but still the same problem. The swicth it back to hard drive first still the same thing happens although I can now go into Windows XP.

I do not have a floppy drive attached to the computer.

I fixed by restoring original default settings in the BIOS.

Not quite yet, when I go to boot it still says failed to load floppy drive press F1 to continue, then it goes to select which version of windows to load. I selected one then it goes into Windows XP

Turn off the "floppy seek" in the BIOS...
That will take care of one nag...

If you have 2 choices of Windows to boot from then you may want to consider starting over...

Thanks for the help, I figure it out when I restored the default settings it selected the floppy drive I deselected it and now it boots fine, as for the two copies when I was having problems I reinstall windows on the C and D drive. It's all fixed now. Thanks for the help.
