Title: Please help... Labtop problem... I need to open computer to regain homework...
Post by: Samuel72991 on February 19, 2009, 06:09:44 PM
I have a problem with my labtop. I can open the labtop and it goes to the main menu. Once I login though, the desktop does not load. It shoes only the wallpaper and a window. The window is called Address Book - Main Identity. Once I close it, nothing happens. There is only a screen with the desktop wallpaper and nothing loads... No programs, no start...

How can I fix this situation? How can I save my work without losing it? Please help if you know. Thank you.

Will Task Manager open, if you hit CTRL+ALT+DEL at the same time?
Did you try Safe Mode?
What Windows version?

Broni I want to ask you another question. The desktop pops up and the programs are seen. However a program called Spyware Protect 2009 detects viruses and bad things in the computer. Now it popus up this window:

There are serious threats deteched on your computer. Your privacy and personal data may not be ssafe. Do you want to Clean and Protect your PC?

What should I answer?

1. Yes, remove threats

or

2. No, continue unprotected

Your computer is infected, the most likely reason for your troubles. I'm pretty sure, you're gonna have same problem after restart. Whatever you do, do NOT click 1. Yes

I did not press 1 but of course the crisis has not ended... Too early to be happy... I am on my labtop right now via Firefox... I want to ask is Malware bytes' Anti-Malware reliable? My brother just came back and he is currently using this program to scan the viruses (objects infected)...
