Re-install your sound drivers...
If it's a sound card the drivers will be on the CD that came with it...
If it's onboard sound the drivers will be found on the MBoard driver CD that came with the machine.

Not a problem. You should be able to get the device drivers from your computer manufacturer or your sound card manufacturer's web site.

If you are unsure of the make/model of your sound card, right click "My Computer" and then go to "Properties."  On the "Hardware" tab and click the "Device Manager" button. Once you have the Device Manager open, you can usually find the information under the category that says "Sound, video and game controllers."

Good luck.

well, there's a yellow question mark next to "audio device on high definition audio bus" but when i go to reinstall it, it says the software cannot be found.

Answer these questions for me.

1. What is the make of your computer? (Dell, Gateway, HP)
2. What is the model of your computer? (Optiplex, Presario)
3. What are all the items listed under the "Sound, video and game controllers?"

DLoad , install and run Everest Home...
Run a scan and save the Computer Summary as a text file...
Post it here and we'll help track down your drivers...

If it's a Dell they make it very easy...
Travel to their site and enter the Service Tag # off the back of the machine...
All your drivers will be listed.
DLoad and install the sound/audio device drivers.
