Title: HELP! cant boot my eeepc
Post by: jared31 on February 28, 2009, 04:12:27 PM
hi all...
i got an asus eeepc1000 a little bit ago, and i somehow got a mundo or vundo virus, which i was able to get rid of.  but i still didnt trust the computer to go to financial sites, etc. until i reformatted it.  today i tried to do that.  i have the system restore disk and and external cdrom(since the netbook doesnt have an optical drive)...the computer had been able to boot up and power down, etc.  but when i tried to tell it to boot from the cdrom by hitting f9 during startup(as asus people told me to do) it went to the black bootup screen that tells u to do safe mode, last configs, etc.  I tried all of these and all it will do is show the windows xp startup with the bar for a few seconds...then it goes to the blue screen for a split second, then back to the black screen with safe mode options.
Please help me...i just want to reformat it so i can get back to using it for school
Thanks!

If this is an external USB cd drive...configure BIOS to boot from the external USB device.

I cant even get to the bios without it going straight to the safe mode option screen
