Title: Opening a link to a .swf file in the swiff player instead of inside browser.
Post by: eugene on March 11, 2009, 08:13:01 PM
I have links in a web page to swf files for my accounting course.  Some students have problems viewing these files in firefox and IE at home.

How can I get the link to activate the swiff player and play the .swf file in the player instesd of the browser.

The link you posted can be used to download the .swf file directly.
Just Right Click it and go to Save As.

This program can be used to play the file on the computer:

Thanks Dude,

How do I get the player to start playing the .swf without having to download it by right clicking.

You can't. Swiff player would have to be browser's addon, or plugin. Instead, it's standalone player.

Thanks,

I can open my links on my version of IR and Firefox but  some of my students my students get this message when they open this link as an example.

The .swf download and plays in IE for them but half way through the movie the movie will stop and the following message appears:

Debug Error

Program: C/program files/ Internet Exprorer/ IExplorer.Exe

abnormal program termination

The it shuts down completly

Try to uninstall Adobe Flash, using this tool: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157
Install fresh copy.
