Recently while gaming my graphics card(880GT) fan gave out. I unplugged the card and looked it over, and put it back in. After doing so my entire computer had slowed down. I thought maybe something had happened to the card so i traded it in for a 9800GT and after uninstalling my old drivers and installing my new ones the problem persisted. I have over 1GB of RAM left. During gaming i cant tell any difference in the speed between the highest and the lowest graphics quality.
AMD Athlon(tm) 64X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
2.21 GHz, 2.00GB of RAM(over 1GB is free)
I have 100 GB of free space on my C drive.
The only Antivirus i have is AVG.
Thanks for your time!

Just an update: I have run defrag, disk clean-up, spy bot, adware scans, antivirus scans, Hijack this and i have even shut down all unnecessary applications to no avail, still the same speed as before...

I partitioned my drive, formatted and everything is running smoothly now.

Try to get the newest graphic card driver, what I mean is to update your driver.
Cheers.
