Title: Computer keeps rebooting
Post by: SGordon on May 04, 2005, 08:16:14 AM
Every few minutes my computer has starting rebooting itself.

Is it the moterboard or someone mentioned it was the memory?

Either way it's very frustrating as it won't stay on long enough to back up any of my data.

Thanks. ???

This could be a number of things.... Have you made ANY changes to your system lately? New hardware, software, etc.?

I'm got Norton 2005 - started that last month.  I've changed nothing since yesterday when it started acting up though.

This is on my computer at home, so had to wait until I got home.

I was able to do more checking on it.  First I found that Norton Anti-Virus wasn't being acknowledged - so do suspect that it may be more virus related (perhaps this thread should be moved over to that side).  I uninstalled & reinstalled Norton & ran the scan twice which found nothing.

I also noted that it seems to be happening when I'm on-line.  I have cable no dial-up.  Have also started having it come up with the blue fatal error screen.

Thought it was hardware since it just started.  Maybe I am just needing an excuse to buy new computer with more power (argh, argh, argh)!
