Is there a free program that can remove Boot Sector/MBR Infections?
-
Yes there is. You have to make sure it's infected first.
Download the MBR Rootkit Detector (http://www2.gmer.net/mbr/mbr.exe) to your desktop.
- Doubleclick mbr.exe and follow prompts.
- A black DOS window will quickly appear then disappear.
- When mbr.exe is finished it will create a log on your desktop.
- Copy and paste contents of that log file to your next reply.

That's great. But what do you do when you can't boot into Windows. I can't get into the safe mode either. It's XP.

That's most likely not a virus. Not in the MBR anyway.
Windows Repair Install?
