Hey,
I have a nifty program called Celestia - a sort of 3D astronomy thing - and it has a video capture facility, but I get an error when I try to generate the avi file ("could not capture movie"). I've had other programs like Animation Shop and gif to avi converters that fail to generate avi files too. I can play avi files no problem. I suspect a codec issue but have installed various codec packs to no avail.
I'm running XP Pro SP3 with a 128meg Radeon 9200 vid card.
Any ideas?

Have you tried any of these: All-in-1 Malware Free Codec Packs (http://glitchpc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=602&highlight=codec)
-
Yeah, tried all those. I currently have K-Lite installed. They don't help, sadly.

Celestia forums. http://www.shatters.net/forum/index.php

Thanks.
I posted there but so far no luck. One guy did ask me what codec I'm using when the program tries to generate an avi, but I don't know how to answer that question.

Sorry can I ask are you doing astronomy?

Have you tried Stellarium? http://www.majorgeeks.com/Stellarium_d5091.html
It's description says it has "scripting to record and play your own shows ."

Sorry can I ask are you doing astronomy?
I'm something of an amateur astronomer, but I actually want to make animations that I can use for my Youtube channel videos.

Sorry I'm a keen astronomer.. I love astronomy and just to meet someone else is cool. Can I pick your brains?

Sure, what there is to pick, anyway :P
