Hi, I have recently run a scan of my registry and Registry Booster tells me that I have 255 errors or problems found. How do I deal with these problems. I am not sure if this is related but I feel as though my internet has slowed down and I wouldn't say that it is as slow as dial up but it is not as quick as a cable connection should be (I use a wireless connection). Can you please help me? Thank you for your time.
-
Registry Booster is a total scam, plus it is Malware.
Uninstall it.
And for real and non-malware registry software, I recommend CCleaner. It is a very safe, effective, doesn't-bloat-up-your-system Software.
And as far as your slow internet please do the following:
- Goto and read the following thread:Link (http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,46313.0.html)
- Post your System Specs.
- After reading the above thread, post the logs here, one of our Malware
guys(Evilfantasy or Broni) will be with you.
Hope this Helps
,Nick(macdad-)

Advanced Window Care is another good free pc tuneup utility which you can find at http://www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html
Another suggestion in the meantime while working on the procedure listed by Nick, do check different web browsers (firefox, internet explorer, etc) that is different than what you normally use, to see if it's a software issue or not. That's what I'd do as well ;D
-
thanks, I do use firefox only
-
well, in any case, good luck with your troubleshooting here :)

for some reason when I run the superantispyware the scan never ends and it seems to be scanning some file over and over, any suggestions?

by the way, if your scanning seems to hang up, you can try in safemode to see if scanning does complete there as normal mode may have had some file or process hacking up the scanning so it never finishes timely.

of course, the one stop shop for all the common computer slowdown issues, which commonly starts with thinking of RAM amount, processor type and hard drive defragmentation :D
-
Without ruling out the little things you are pretty much just running in circles...
-
True...Gershuni,
What kind of wireless do you have?
Like is it the USB modems like the one's Verison sells?
Or is yours an access point in an apartment?
-
access point in my apartment
-
do you think i need a better wireless card?
-
Your wireless card is probably not the problem, since your getting Wifi from your apartment, the actual connection splits into multiple access point around your apartment which means that the bandwidth(amount of data sent through in a certain amount of time). That in turn means that there may be other users of that same connection.
This is common of Apartment Wifi Connections, if you wanted a faster internet connection you could try Satellite, Cable, or DSL depending upon if your Apartment management allows it.
-
I live on a house so no problem there but I already have a cable connection which I pick up through wifi.
-
Are there any other users of that same connection?
-
yes, 2 or three at any given time.
-
Depending upon their amount of use on that connection, it may give you slow downs, especially if they're uploading/downloading alot of files.
-
Thanks for all of you help. Are there optimum settings on my laptop for faster internet speed?
-
You can't change your connection speed, but if you wanted faster speed you could try asking your ISP(Internet Service Provider, e.g Comcast) for a Faster Connection.
-
thanks for everything. Best of luck
