Title: someone hacked my yahoo e-mail account
Post by: joseph53p on April 13, 2009, 10:25:25 AM
Here is the scenario:  Person A has read and forwarded a number of e-mails from my yahoo account that I have written to various other people to Person B without my knowledge or consent.  How is this possible, and what should I do other than change my yahoo password?  This is obviously a serious privacy issue, so thank you for your help.

Was this done from your comp or did they use another comp? How do you know they hacked your account? Did person B tell you that they received these emails?

You could always follow the below link and post the results here to see if you comp is infected with anything that would be able to allow then to do this.

Change you password to something really strong. Make sure it has a combination of letters and numbers. Some times you can even use special characters like the "@" in your passwords if so use them as well. I can't remember if Yahoo passwords are case sensitive but if they are be sure and mix the letters with upper case and lower case.

It was done from another computer.  Person B sent me the e-mails that were forwarded to her that I had written days or weeks before to other people.  I have communicated via e-mail to both Person A and Person B in the past.  I assume my account was hacked because the intent of sending Person B the e-mails was clearly malicious.  But thak you for the password advice--I will follow it.  I'm just wondering if I should delete the account altogether.

If it's going to give you peace of mind along with a secure password, then delete the account.......That way you are certain.

I agree with that.

Password change is enough though.
