I was unsure exactly where to post this. When I go to defragment my C-drive it says the disk is 98% full. Because of this I recently moved all photos, music, and what little video I had to an external drive. The problem remained the same: 98% full. What's up with that? I don't have that much 'stuff' on the computer.
Did a virus or worm put a lot of junk onto my computer? How do I examine what is there and fix the problem?

did you delete it then once moved? its not going to get rid of its self or empted the recylce bin.

Even then it's not deleted. Disks can't really empty out...it just doesn't work that way. When something get's deleted, it doesn't magically poof off your hard drive. Where it goes is a lot like solitary confinement. It basically get's moved to a place where nothing can access it...including itself. It stays there untill it get's written over by something else.

I know but it shows space is empty. In case of a restore this is done isnt it?

He may have copied the files instead of moving them...
He may also be infected...
Until they return with more info we may never know.
-
After you deleted those files, have you gone to Recycle bin and chose"empty recycle bin".
Cheers.

I would like to remind you that:

Perhaps the drive is filled with restore points. I seem to remember someone else on the forum gained back a lot of disk space by removing several saved restore points which were unneeded.
-
Drive size ?
Full space ?
Windows version?
What protection apps do you have ?

That might be it! I probably have several restore points. How do I go about checking into that and rectifying it?

I agree with patio some what on this. How many app's do you have installed? This will cause the same issue as well and boggle it down. There's a program called tree size that you could use and look at files on the drive and see how big they are an stuff like that.
