Specs on the left for reference.
I am using Vista ultimate 64bit.
I have activated the hibernate function both in the power settings and via typing a line into CMD.
Whenever i choose hibernate by clicking the power button on my compuetr (set to hibenrate in power settings), the computer powers down then restarts itself just like it would if it was restarting.
Just to check if the sleep function was the same, i tried that and it "slept" for about 20secs then powered on again...
Any ideas?
Any help welcomed
Thank you
Boo

If this is desktop, don't even bother...IMHO.

As much as I respect your advice Broni, could you please elaborate?

Sleep, hibernate, and all other power savings features never worked flawlessly in Windows, and I don't expect them to work well in any predictable future.
What's the reason to use them on desktop anyway?

I use my computer alot but it uses rather alot of power and in the current climate i want to turn it off when im not using it but not have to wait ages for it to start up.
When i use XP on another computer, the hibernate function works flawlessly
