Title: Monitor problems with Windows
Post by: soylent_green2 on May 13, 2005, 11:18:52 AM
I would appreciate any help!
Running Windows98 (not 2nd ed.)
Reformatted computer do to GARBAGE from internet.
Everything is fine BUT:
I have a monitor I bought a year ago that was working fine with the same OS before I formatted. No hardware has been changed. OS is the same. Now I can only get 2 bits and 16 bits resolution. I downloaded the drivers for the monitor from the internet and no change.
Monitor is an Envision 775e and the computer is a Compaq Presario 2294. The video card is the same one that came with it.

Can anyone give me a clue?????
Thanks
Kristy

You need the drivers for your video card, not necessarily the monitor.......

I checked with Microsoft and they do not have any updated drivers for the card.It is just a standard PCI grahpics card. What baffels me it the fact that it was fine before I had to reformat. Everything loaded back without any problems.

Look in your device manager under display adaptor and check what drivers are installed.

<---- Agrees with FED and Gary

Green2:

When you check Device Manager for the drivers for the card to see if there are any conflicts, also write down the full name of the video card and let us know.  One of us will look it up and try to find a link to the site where you may download the correct drivers for Windows 98.

Doc

Thanks for your help on this. The only info I have in device manager (and there are no conflicts) is this:
standard PCI graphics adapter VGA
Provider MS
5-11-98
Hardware version: 104
I hope this helps!!!!
My daughter is trying to do  homework on this silly thing!!! Thanks again
