I know the command and everything but its saing that it isnt one.  ps1 = '[\u @ \h \W]'

it should give me the user, host and the pc name right?

It would depend on which shell you were using...  sh, bash, csh, ksh, tcsh, zsh, etc., etc., etc.

oh, It was a bash shell and I didnt have PS1.  I had ps1 big differnece
