Title: PCI buss driver error
Post by: ryan23474 on May 16, 2009, 07:26:44 AM
Hey, guys. I just downgraded (some would say upgraded) from vista to xp. I noticed that the drivers for my graphics card, my pci buss, and my wireless card were all missing. I updated the graphics card and it works perfectly. Then i updated my wireless card driver and found that it still wouldn't turn on. My wireless card and speakers/sound card are both connected to my pci buss, and I can't fix it because I'm using a laptop. Fortunately my graphics card was integrated. I'm using a Compaq presario c700, i believe it is em. I have driver detective, I'm just not ready to pay 30 bucks yet. Here is what it says I'm either missing or have outdated drivers for.

Outdated
-Intel(r) ICH8m 3 port serial ata storage controller - 2828
-HID Compliant mouse (my touchpad and external mouse work fine)
-(2) Intel(r) ICH8 Family Pci Express Root port 1 - 283f
-Intel(r) 82801 PCI bridge-2448
-Intel(r) ICH8 Family SMBus Controller - 283e
-PCI standard houst CPU bridge
-(4) Intel(r) ICH8 Family USB Universal Host Controller

Missing
Network Controller
PCI Device.

Again, I don't know how to get any more specific information than  this.

Laptop drivers should come directly from the manuf. site.
MBoard chipset drivers if not installed first or improperly will sometimes block other driver installations...

Do you have a drivers CD for those? If you have your problem is solved.
