Hi i`ve been playing the computer game Crysis for a few weeks now, im almost close to completing it being on the last level i think. Up to now its worked perfectly fine with no problems at all. The game graphics have started to get a bit jumpy leading to it freezing causing my computer to crash, this happens at virually the same part of the game, & not happened elsewhere.
Ive got a fairly new system a 2.33ghz 2 core duo 2gb, video card ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT 256MB Half Height.
If it was something to do with the graphics card surely the game would`nt just start crashing now after 2 weeks, now playing at the end?
I`ve scanned my computer using McAfee & i`ve no viruses, what could be causing this? ???

Since it seemed to be working alright up till recently, you might try simply disabling some running programs to free up some of the processor's clock cycles.
Open a RUN command and type MSCONFIG, click on the "start-up" tab, click on "disable all", click "apply", click OK, restart and try the game out again and see if the problem is corrected..
You should also open up your computer and verify that the CPU fan is spinning and that the inside of the computer is virtually dust free....in other words, get yourself a can of compressed air and blow the dust out (if any) of the computer....focus on the heat sink of the processor....it's a really good dust collector

no luck unfortunatly, samething happening, im thinking of updating my graphics card anyway as im sure its linked somehow. It says on the back of the game that you may need to update any patches on the graphics card, i might try that. Thanks for your help i`ll remember the proceedure for another occasion.

Post two sets of results: while computer idle, and while the game starts to lag.

Sorry for the long delay, i did have problems initially downloading speedfan. But these are the temp results:-
idle no computer activity- 39-40
in game when playing other levels (does not crash)- 44-48
particular stage in game before crashes - 48 then quickly 43-44 when screen freezes
any ideas would be greatly appreciated ???

SpeedFan reports several temperatures, as shown in my picture.
You didn't say what temperature you're following.

Problem solved
I looked up "crysis crashing" on google & its a bug in the software thats solvable by playing the game in dx9 rather than the default dx10.
Its working now in dx9, its prob a bug that only effects machines with a certain spec.
In answer to your question, the reason why i was unable to provide other readings was because they were showing on the tool bar at the bottom of the screen. When the game crashed i had no option but to restart my computer. I could not access the speed fan screen itself. :)

That -128C SpeedFan temp is fake. If you see some odd temp like that in SF, it's most likely a result of missing, or non-existing sensor.

I know, I read the FAQ on it about incorrect sensor readings. I just thought that I'd hound you until you confessed :)
