Title: Need some info on protecting my wireless router

I currently purchased a wireless router and I would like to know what I can do to stop neighbours or other people in my neighborhood from stealing my internet. I know I can set up a password, but being a novice, I am not too familiar on how to do that.

My OS is windows vista and I purchased a netgear rangemax wireless router
