Is Microsoft that desperate?
-
Heck, I'd go for that on my laptop. I think I'll call Toshiba tomorrow and see what they can do.
-
Ziff Davis has more information on it, here (http://blogs.zdnet.com/Bott/?p=1090&tag=nl.e539) is the link.

Don't believe this is a sign of desperation, believe they're just trying to get Windows 7 to be more of a success and more users to convert over.
-
Well, I had vista for a few days and it didn't cooperate with my system AT ALL! So I went back to xp for a few months, then went to windows 7. It is so much cleaner and the compatibility issues are gone! I think windows 7 will thrive immediately any way you look at it. (And it is new, so some people will just have to run out and buy it right away!!!!!!!)

Just recieved an email coupon for Win7...
Home Edition $39.99
Ultimate $79.99.
-
Got mine pre-ordered at best buy.

How do you rate a coupon?
No, wait -- don't tell us: "I volunteer on Computer Hope" ;D
-
"only $64.99 for Home Premium or $124.99 for Professional"
You got lucky Patio!

Well i do a tad bit of Beta testing for them on the side over the years...
Least they could do is throw me a bone once in awhile.... ;)
All kidding aside many retailers are offering similar deals so i suggest if you are considering it to buy early and often.
No sense in paying full boat for anything.

Toshiba is sending me mine for free. My laptop is 2 months old and I get it pro-rated. It makes me glad that I asked.

Nice ! !

That's exactly what I thought. The only problem is that then I will need to reinstall everything. Oh well, it'll be a challenge to get it all going, and nothing easy is ever worthwhile eh? 8)

Win7 is worth all that work...
Or just buy another laptop HDD and keep both.
-
Is there a way you can use Properties in the Start menu to associate existing programs back to the operating system.
I did this once is XP. It's almost as tedious as a full reinstall, but it may be an option.
-
Not sure what you mean Aegis...what OS's are involved here ? ?
-
I derailed my own train of thought...I was erroneously thinking of a reinstall of the same operating system...never mind... ::) :-[

Why just buy the hdd, maybe another laptop, I could always just get the Alienware that I've been drooling over.
But then which one do I take to camp, the Qosmio, or the Alienware?
So much money, so few laptops...
