Title: ARC FIRMWARE

It would appear that each time on boot it attempts to boot from Floppy A:
When I press F8 and go into the disk boot section and change it to boot from
ST340014A [Hard drive] (40.02 GB) -- drive 0, s/n 5JX99PPP, rev 3.06, SMART Status: Healthy

It boots up OK then for that occasion but each time I reboot I have to follow the same procedure and change it from Floppy to HD.ST340014A

Once I change it to the correct boot drive it should hold there until I change it but it is reverting back to Floppy A each time I reboot instead......regardless

Have you tried resetting your boot device in the bios?

Is your clock keeping good time?

Yes, but I should be able to preference in order the boot sequence in the BIOS but I am unable to move any of the preferences up or down.

Yes my clock is keep good time.

If your clock keeps good time then it's not the CMOS battery.

I'm gonna scratch my head on this for a bit.

YES and the MB is MSI PM8M-V

but I haven't been able to get any feedback on that.

Just a hunch, have you tried disabling the FDD in the BIOS?

Sorry man, FDD=Floppy Disk Drive.
It's usually assigned as drive A:\

Quantos, Thanks a million man for coming to my aid, we've had a lot of lookers but you was the only one that showed up and kept at it long enough to get my brain juices working.

When I was first contemplating getting into computers about 5 years ago at 68years of age I really wondered then if I should accept such a challenge after attending my very first computer class. These things shouldn't be a household item as they are too complex and subject to a multitude of failure syndromes.

However, I did embrace the challenge and have learnt enough on the way to keep me from those "experts" that set up shop to take your money and with help from guys like you I am "eventually able" to overcome most problems.

You got me thinking after going into "boot menu" and then BIOS I decided to "pause" through the boot sequence and analyse what was taking place.

From that observation I changed aroud the HD cables on the MB and everything is honky dory now or so it seems.
Don't know what went wrong with the settings but it boots straight into the correct drive now and the others are operational also.

We could list this problem as SOLVED......thanks for your help.
