Hey All,
This is the issue. I am running Vista Home Premium 64 bit on a ECS BLACK SERIES GF8200A (V1.0) with a AMD X2 at 2.9ghz and 4gb of ram. It seems when I upgrade to Vista SP2, my Lexmark and Ethernet devices loose their drivers and stop working. I go into Device Manager and they have exclamation points by them and I try updating the drivers but it fails. Any idea on this? It only happens when I upgrade to SP2.
-
Have you tried downloading current drivers from the manufacturers?
-
Yes but they are the same drivers as what I have on their previously.
-
Is the machine still under warranty?
-
I built it myself and I am sure the motherboard is under warranty, but ECS support is the worst.
-
If the drivers are current, and the issue still happens then it sounds like a failure on the motherboard.
-
if it works fine without sp2, i would just remove it. Sometimes microsoft updates screw things up.

Terrible advice.
Windows Updates do from time to time botch things til the patches come out but suggesting running XP without SP2 is not a solid move in my opinion...

well.... it is Vista, not XP. I'd agree if it was XP w/o SP2 but I don't think leaving SP1 on a Vista machine, rather then updating, would be such a bad move.
