My CPU uage is always at 100% Anybody have an idea why
-
virus?
-
no, i run virus scans constantly thanks Salmon Trout
-
Look in task manager
-
that's wher it says 100% I have an image of it if you want me to upload it
-
Task manager shows a list of processes and how much cpu percentage each one is using, so you need to see which one(s) is/are the hog(s)
-
DLoad install and run Process Explorer...FREE....
Post a screenshot.
-
I attached the screenshot. Thanks Patio

What the heck is that online armor component ? ?
P.S. You can also safely dis-able that AVG watchdog component...
Startup CPL is a great little app for managing startup apps...
-
OnlineArmor is my firewall, works great.
-
Can you please post a picture of the Task Manager with the 100% and expand it so we can see ALL the processors and programs running.
-
AVG is eating up your CPU cycles.
Get rid of it, using AVG Remover: http://www.avg.com/download-tools
Get one of these:
- Avast! free antivirus: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
- Avira free antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/en/download/index.html
-
I got rid of avg and got avira, still constantly at 100%

Well, you do have Folding@Home running.
-
Can you please post a picture of the Task Manager with the 100% and expand it so we can see ALL the processors and programs running.
Why would you ask for this when Process Explorer shows twice as much info than Task Manger does ? ?
-
I'm sorry, I got mixed up, I did not see the CPU %. My fault.
Also, I have been using AVG Free for a LONG LONG time, I have never seen it do what it has done to other computers. And I never had a single problem with it.
-
i still have folding at home running, but the cpu usage dropped to 7% Thank you guys SO MUCH!! I love this site ;D :D :) So many great helpers!
-
PS I am going to use Process explorer instead of taskmanager always from now on
Thanks for telling me about it !
-
BTW, your last screenshot shows fahcore_78.exe (Folding@Home) running 78% of your CPU.
-
Thanks Broni. :D
