Title: Colored lines or symbols come up on screen
Post by: Computerbrowneyes on June 01, 2005, 07:55:04 PM
I have a Pionex computer that, will only boot up now with boot disc.  Once I get it booted up, it only stays up about 15 min then goes to colored lines or checks on screen.    The monitor is fine, I checked that.  Could it be the video card going bad?

I have virus protection.  I ran the virus scanner and spydoctor.   I have not tried updating the drivers.  I dont know if it will stay on long enough to do that.  I tried defragging it and it will not make it through that either.   I will try the driver update.

Questions:

1. Is the VGA cable properly connected?
2. Is the videocard firmly seated?
3. Has the videocard fan been cleansed of excessive dust?
-- Only applies if the videocard has an active cooling solution.
