Title: Password incorrect
Post by: Ivy on August 08, 2009, 03:07:25 AM
I tried to enter CH Chat after a long time today just to check something, but  mibbit says that my password is incorrect, though it doesn't change my nick to guest. It keeps me in the room as 'Ivy' but says password incorrect!!

I want to know how to get back my 'username'

p.s. my username was on auto kill but it's not anymore.

Also, It's not like I'm not able to access chat because of this, I am able to sit in the chat room , but I just wanna know why it could be saying 'password incorrect' ....hope someone has some idea!

lostcoast informed me if you don't visit for 25 days or so the username and PWord are scratched...
I believe you need to sign up again thru Mibbit...

In addition to what Patio just said, I was typing this while he posted. ;)

Mibbit's password management is handled outside of Computer Hope so I can't really do to much other than recommend the general suggestions when passwords don't work.

- Make sure your caps lock is not on, passwords are often capitalized.
- If password contains numbers make sure num lock is on.
- Make sure you're using the right username

Finally you can get the IRC server to send you your password (assuming you used a valid e-mail address) by typing the below command in the IRC server tab.

/msg nickserv sendpass nickname

Hope that helps

Thank you guys,

I tried to sign up as Ivy again, but it says ''Nickname Ivy is already registered!''

- If password contains numbers make sure num lock is on.
- Make sure you're using the right username
Checked all that.

At the time I registered I was told that the email Id doesn't have to be valid!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't there any other way to recover my own Nick?

Those are all the methods I'm aware of. The only alternative if you want your nick since the e-mail is invalid would be to let the account expire.

Will it expire if I don't login for a long time?

Yes I'd assume so. Like Patio said Lostcost said it expires in about a month of non-use. So unless someone else is using it, it should expire.

But I had not used it for 4 months, it still didn't expire! Does that mean someone else is using it?

Possibly or that Mibbit may not expire as quick as some believe. I don't know all the specifics on mibbit servers.

Thank you for the help Nathan,

I will see what I can do about it and if I have some useful info, I'll share it here.
