I have recently done a clean install of XP on an Acer M5641 machine.
I was able to make a custom XP install using information from http://komku.blogspot.com/2009/01/aspire-m1641-m3641-m5641-windows-xp-and.html
Everything is working except the audio.
When I try to install the audio driver it fails.
When I go into system and attempt to update the driver it does not respond.
Windows update did install a new driver, but still no audio
Any suggestions ????
Thanks
Dave

It's possible the driver listed at that site is incorrect for your machine...i'd go straight to the Acer site.

Acer site does not offer drivers for XP only Vista

There's your problem...
It was built for Vista.
Alot of people have been thru this...you're not the 1st.

Yea I know
Vista just sucks and I want to get XP running on the quad core.
I'm going to try and install a soundblaster card to see if I can get some sound
