Title: A Brand "NEW" Idea...on "Autoruns" BUT who'll gonna implement it?
Post by: Saurabhdua on August 18, 2009, 06:26:26 AM
Hello Folks! 8)

All of you have worked really hard to study HijackThis Log & have even devised a "Special Tool" to scour the entries contained within a user's PC!

Is there any possibility to work in the same direction for "Autoruns Log"???!

Both Hardware & Software makers compete with one another to literally CHOKE the user's system with all kinds of UNWANTED "Start-up Items" & "Automatic Services"!

No matter what kind of Processor you go for & how much RAM you have, BOOT TIME shows a falling trend with continuous use!?
>:(

Please deliberate on to DEVISE a "Autoruns Tool" that can help users assess what all is required & which all entries can be fended off!

This is a difficult one to do. Not because of not being able to do it, but because every user has different preferences on what they want/need enabled at startup.

These two sites will show, in most cases, which startups you need, which you don't:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/
http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php

Broni's Homework:::
Please check out the 2nd link you have posted. "Online Link Scanner" detected a SINGLE Threat with that & you have to figure out what it could be?!!

Wanna see the Screenshot...am always "Ever-Ready" with the same! ;)

Please COPY-PASTE the "2nd Link">>sysinfo at http://linkscanner.explabs.com/linkscanner/default.aspx (http://linkscanner.explabs.com/linkscanner/default.aspx) & Run a SCAN.

HE doesn't have to do anything.

Besides- running a scan would- get this - scan HIS computer, which will probably have different results.

I'm sure you know what that image is, right? Missing item?

likely a plugin that the scanner uses.

It's not the first false positive from AVG - one of the reasons, I don't recommend it anymore.
sysinfo.org web site has been out there for ever, and it's probably the very first site, which started to list startups.

If you look at copyright note, you'll see a whole bunch of computer world icons:

In any case, the site is 100% safe, and you better ask AVG to do their homework.
