when reboot or shut down computergoes to save settings then shuting windows then frezzes win xp

hold down the f8 key......and chose the last good config......scan for trojans/worms etc.....

Many, many things may cause startup and shutdown problems with Windows XP. It may be a problem with a hardware device, such as the power supply. It may be a problem with a device driver or a service running in the background. It may be a software application (though this is rare in XP). Please try to help us narrow it down by telling us what, if anything, was changed just prior to the behavior.

only thing new is i installed microsoft antispyware (beta)

Open you task manager & shut down all running applications, then try & shut down your computer and see if that changes things.
