Title: What are the NT user files ?
Post by: jimpl on August 27, 2009, 08:57:55 PM
 In Vista
start menu/user name/ then lots of folders.
There are 8 "nt user" folders. Why are they accumulating there. What are they?

right-click your user folder with Shift held down and the context menu will contain the extra item Open Command Window Here. When you have the console up, use the command Attrib +h NTUser.dat which should make the offending file disappear.

DO NOT delete the folder in any way! This is a very important folder.
These are your own personal user files.

These files are extremely small so if it's space you are after they are best left alone...
Vista uses these files to save info about your user account and settings.

 Sorry for my delay,
 Thanks for the input.
It's just annoying to see these all the time. I will try the above recommendation to hide them.
On another note. Just what info is in there? Is that a security concern?

As we stated it's your user info. No security concern at all.  ;)
