I'm not sure I understand what you are reffering to?
Is this related to your other thread? (http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,90658.0.html)

Okay, you need to provide some details.
* I don't know what a usb importer is.
* I don't know anything about your webcam and printer, but I'm happy to hear they are working.
* I'm sorry to hear about your ipod. Perhaps you'd like to provide some details so we can try to help you.
* Please don't type in all CAPS - it is the online equivalent of YELLING and it's considered rude.

I'm no expert but I'll try to help.
OK, so now Device Manager is working, correct?
Leave you Ipod plugged in.
Go to device manager, look down the list to see if anything has a yellow question mark next to it. It will likely be by Human Interface Devices. Click the + next to the entry with the yellow question mark. Do you see an entry for your Ipod and does it have a yellow question mark next to it?
If so, right click on that, then click on Uninstall.
Now close device manager and go to Control Panel > click on Add Harware - then follow the instructions.
I think this will work but if not you'll have to let a more experienced member help you. :)

Didn't we already have this conversation? Go to Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services and locate the Plug & Play service. Make sure it is started and set to "automatic".

Unplug and then plug in the device. If the computer prompts you for a device driver, read the information that was included with the device, or visit the manufacturer's Web site to see whether a driver is available.
run Windows Update to obtain the latest fixes for Windows XP. When this is complete, plug in the device to see whether it is installed correctly.
