I am running Vista Home Premium and I have Windows live one care installed but i cannot turn it on or anything the security center informs me that it is turned off and cannot be started, I tried to install Avast and the system denied access to install. The computer is not connected to the internet and is not in a business, Thank you for the help so far, I have to go to work for the rest of the evening at the golf course so I will continue after I get off. Again thank you very much!! Irven

Live One Care is being abandoned by Microsoft so it's time to re-think your protection strategy...
Avira, Avast and AVG all make a good Free version of their A/V apps...

Then, you need to state your issues at malware section, not here.
With serious MyWebSeach infection, they'll need special tools to get rid of it.

i'v had MWS i just keep it from starting up using a startup manager
Were here to help people clean infections not tell them 'just stop using the programme'. Would you say that to someone with an infection in Windows? No!
-
On top of that simply turning it off as a startup service will not prevent it from carrying out it's insidious deeds...
Don't give advice if you don't have a command on what you are advising about.

I finally got avast to install on the laptop and ran a boot scan without being able to update as the system would not allow it to connect to the web site, It did not find anything then I was able to update it and ran a scan and it found 5 or 6 infections which I placed in the chest, then I downloaded the cc cleaner and ran that and could not connect to have it analyzed so that is lost, now the computer keeps locking the current user and cycles to a black screen then a blue screen and then a couple times it restarted on its own and is so slow when I try to restart it it takes about 20 minutes to reach the desktop, I am so frustrated I don't know what to do Please help!!
