Title: CPU / Motherboard
Post by: kop442000 on June 10, 2005, 10:00:03 AM
Hi guys,

Am going to start my first self-build.

I have a few components I can take from another machine; soundcard, Harddrive etc... and I already have monitor and printer.

My main concern it what kind of CPU and Motherboard to buy. I am not going to be anything special with the PC. No games or anything. Primarily surfing, but put quite a bit of music on there too.

I guess I want a computer that is "pretty good" but not too expansive, and want to decide a CPU / Motherboard for my starting point.

Someone suggested AMD Athlon 64Bit 3000 - what do you guys think?

Many thanks in advance,

You should make your choice depending on what other hardware you have and on how much you are willing to spend.

The hardware you allready have should not become a bottleneck to the processing power both mainboard and CPU are capable of.
