Hi
I've been given a polish Acer 5630 laptop that when I turn on comes up with an ntoskrnl.exe error message. It's not letting me start windows normally or in any other mode and I don't have a Windows Vista disk. How can I restore system and the factory settings?
Also translating the error messages from polish to English is quite laborious, is there any way of changing the language settings from the boot up menu?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Windows Vista Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI).? Windows Vista MUIs provide a translated version of most of the user interface. MUIs require a license to be used and are only available with Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows Vista Enterprise.
If you have other version, then, no. You'll need to buy English Vista version.
I can translate from Polish to English for you, though ;D

Apologies for the delayed response, I've been on holiday far away from broken laptops!
If you could translate this text than that would be fantastic:
Menedżer rozruchu system Windows

Do you have any idea how to go about resolving this?
Thanks again.

Windows failed to start. The reason may be latest hardware or software change. To resolve the problem:
1. Insert Windows installation disk and restart computer.
2. Select language and click Next.
3. Select "Repair".
If you don't have Windows disk, contact the administrator or computer maker.
Info: Windows can't start, because some file is missing or damaged.
I'm not sure though, what exactly you're trying to do.

Thanks for that. I'd just like to get back into Windows again but I don't have the installation disk. Is there any way around this?
-
At what point are you stuck?
What's happening?
Even, if you fix, whatever is broken, what are you going to do with Polish Windows?
-
Nothing's happening at all, but I'd like to be able to get back into Windows. The owner of the laptop is polish but I said I'd have a look at it to try and find a solution to the ntoskrnl.exe problem but it's proving a lot harder than I initially thought! Is there anyway to restore Windows and get rid of the problem without the installation disk?
-
No.
You need an installation CD.
The version and installed Service Packs need to match.
-
You'll need CD anyway, because what are you going to do with Polish Windows...
-
is there any way of getting hold of the cd that you can think of without having to pay a fortune?
-
If the laptop has a COA sticker with a serial# on it you can simply borrow a matching XP CD and do a re-install of XP...
Or you can contact Acer and see if they will ship you Recovery CD's...
