Title: installing microsoft office 2007
Post by: SamanthaD on November 15, 2009, 09:38:54 PM
i downloaded microsoft office 2007 from my school's website and put it on a cd and when i try to install it it says program too big to fit in memory. i have tried deleting programs to make room and downloading the program and putting in on a cd numerous times (thinking maybe it didn't download right or something). i don't know what else to do, help me please.

What program was used to burn it ? ?
If it was an .iso file simply burning it won't work.

For that i use IMGBurn...still Free i believe.

Like Patio said, you need to 'convert' that ISO file into a readable-by-the-computer file by using a program like he suggested.  I use AShampoo Burning Studio 2007 to burn my ISO files.

"when i try to install it it says program too big to fit in memory."  Could you elaborate on that alittle?

See following links, hopefully they are helpful.

Link 1 (http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000397.htm)
Link 2 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316573)

The microsoft.com link although is not specifically talking about the office 2007, it talks about "program too big to fit in memory issue" as does other link.

i downloaded the program again and haven't put it on a cd, when i clicked launch install at the end of the download process, it said the same thing, program to big to fit in memory only this time it doesn't go away as fast, does this mean i am still going to have problems with it or should i make the iso image and make the cd anyway and try it?
p.s. office communicater installed on my computer but enterprise won't

No. that was wrong.

you burn the image to disc, as a image; use the appropriate option on Imgburn's startup menu, OR you can right-click the ISO and select "burn with IMGBurn".

if you had ISO file, you use "Write image to file" option in ImgBurn and then find the file and write it to the disc.

That's what I did & it's still not working... When I put the disk in, it doesn't give me an option to install. The "black error box" doesn't pop up either?

use windows explorer and navigate to the disc.

Once I get to the files, I double click "Setup", the MsDos window opens & closes real fast... & nothing else happens?

"16Bit MS-DOS Subsystem" window pops up when I click "Run as" & the window says "E:/MIRC#D6W\setup.exe" "C:\DOCUME~1\don\LOCAL~1Temp\. A temporary file needed for initialization could not be created or could no be written to. Make sure the directory path exists, and disk space is available. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application."

& it gives me the option to Close or Ignore... Ignore just closes it.

This disc is probably not the Office disc.

It's not the actual disk, I downloaded the program from my school... I followed their instructions, but I keep ending up where I'm stuck now. They've sent me multiple downloads & they all end up doing the same thing...

Just an idea...

And, couldn't you talk to other students who've done this?
