Title: Keyboard very slow to respond? locked??
Post by: liz31tt on November 24, 2009, 12:08:19 PM
Hi,
I'm actually asking a question on behalf of my cousin, she's got a dell desktop, with a vista o.s. Her keyboard has suddenly locked! The  lights for cap locks & number lock do work, although they're very slow to respond.  can't type a thing! How does she sort this out?
When she goes to "hardware" in "control panel," it says the keyboard is working properly.
Any help much appreciated, thanks!

Try a different keyboard. Make sure you turn the computer off when you swap them.

Only if it's PS2 keyboard, USB keyboard can be hot swapped.
Doesn't sound like keyboard, though, either they work or they don't.  Slow to respond is some issue with WinVista or something new that was installed, or a virus or malware.  The list is endless.

Agreed. Boot to safe mode and see what happens.
