Title: Brother lazer printer feed problems
Post by: Davy Crockett on November 26, 2009, 09:18:18 AM
I currently have a Brother MFC 7340 all in one machine. The problem is that whenever I put in a batch of checks or invoice
forms to be printed, increasingly they begin sticking together, causing jamming and ruining several forms in the process. It's gotten so bad that I only dare put in 1 form at a time, which really screws up productivity, not to mention pisses me off a lot!
I roll the forms end to end & side to side to loosen them up, but to no avail. Previous to this, I had a Brother MFC 8220, which worked well for 5 years 'til it began doing the same thing. Is there a basic design flaw in the feed system of Brother machines, or is there somethin I can do to correct this problem?  At the same time I bought the new all in one, I  purchased an HL2140 (printer only) for use on another computor and it's starting to do the same thing with invoice forms. Only rarely does either machine pick up more than 1 sheet of plain paper. I'm usinf good quality, lazer rated paper in all applications, 20# and 24#. Any advice would be appreciated, including opinions on what other brand of lazer all in one that will work better.

Normally the paper sticks together because of humidity. Look for things like how have you changed the storeage of the paper. Is it near a open window or door? Or have you moved the printer?

One other thing you can look at is if your vendor has changed how they make the forums....or if you changed vendors.

Something has changed.......

What software is this?  Do you know whether other users of this software have had similar problems?

I will respond to both of you- I live in Denver, Co., so humidity is not much of an issue. My office is in the southwest corner of my home, so it gets the maximum amount of sunlight & heat each day. The checks and invoice forms are from NEBS, which is where I've gotten them from for 20 years or more. Maybe they've changed their paper or something, but I still feel that the problem lies with the paper feeding mechanism on these Brother Lazer machines. I've had 4 or 5 of their lazer printers before and was quite satisfied with them, but these 2 latest ones are driving my nuts.

Have you tried to contact the Brother support? They may already know about the problem and have a fix. Let them know you are a business and you would recommend their product.
