Hey guys!
I was tipsed by a friend to use TrueCrypt to encrypt my entire disks and I was thinking hey good idea. Said and done I installed and rebooted and on windows loading screen ofcourse it gets stuck. I went to recovery console tried fixboot fixmbr chkdsk /p etc nothing helped so I've now formatted and loaded in Windows XP SP3
all is fine until i install video drivers the driver install goes to a black screen with a blinking "_" in it.. Sometimes I've finished up the driver installation (but it didnt seem proper) then i reboot and it freezes in windows loading.
Now I am on Vista 64-bit and the same issue occurs here, drivers install but on reboot i only get a black screen after loadingscreen. I've also tried installing it in safe mode - vga mode.
ps. I have tried google for hours and several forums!
Asus P5K Premium Wifi/AP
Intel Core Duo E8400
Asus Extreme 9800GX2
Soundblaster X-Fi Music
Corsair 1000W

Did you install the chipset driver first?
-
Yes the chipset drivers are all installed from ASUS website
-
Please confirm you downloaded the driver(s) from the Creative Labs web site.
Also, please edit your post and remove the offer of $10. It's insulting and that's not how these forums work.

I did download the creativelabs drivers but they didn't work under vista, they worked under windows XP though.
-
Then you need the Vista drivers...

And this is the driver?: http://support.creative.com/downloads/welcome.aspx?nLanguageLocale=1033&nDriverType=1#type_1

Vista 64bit drivers... (http://www.overclock.net/nvidia-drivers-overclocking-software/377866-nvidia-177-92-physx-v8-08-a.html)

Couldn't get the audio working either.
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
The class installer has denied the request to install or upgrade this device.
So not only do I have problems with my videocard driver (which is my main concern because i have onboard sound working for now).

64bit drivers are very different from regular Vista drivers...
Start with the chipset MBoard drivers 1st and proceed from there...
