Title: Lost Vista Login Password
Post by: UncleAaron on December 18, 2009, 12:10:28 PM
My friend has a little predicament. She was on her laptop last night, and said she was a little tired at the time. She changed her password, and when she woke up this morning she couldn't remember the password.

There are 3 accounts on her laptop: 1 admin (her account), 1 standard (her bf's), and 1 guest. If she goes into the standard account to reset the password it asks for her password. I've gone to Microsofts website, and they say you have to have a reset disk, or you have to re-install windows. I had her to try to go into the standard account and re-install...but it asks for the admin password.

Anyone have any suggestions??

Specs:
OS: Vista Home Premium
RAM: 1GB RAM

Thanks Allan, I'll try that later on.

I'll let you know what happens.

The next to last entry on this forum, says to go into Safe Mode. As the computer was loading up, I constantly hit the F8 key and when the menu came up there was no reference to Safe Mode. The only option I got was to boot into Windows Vista.

If I were to install any kind of software that would help to reset the password, I'm going to be prompted for that "password" that is lost.

I've also tried to re-install the OS and I have to put in that "password". :(
