Title: Help Needed - CD-DVD Drive won't copy

My CD/DVD drive used to copy anything & everything, now it won't copy anything at all.  :( :( :(

All I am doing is clicking, dragging & dropping into the CD, and then click on file & write to cd, now I have done this a thousand times, but just recently it wont copy anything. :'( :'( :'(

error messages saying no disc, yet there is one there, cant copy to a CD-RW???



HELPPPPPPPPPPPP please  ??? ??? ???

Are you trying to copy DVD or CD?

No I'm trying to write data to a cd, i.e word doc's etc.

But I cant copy/write anything

You may need a drive lens cleaner........cdrom drive cleaner disk....from most pc shops....

Got one & done that twice, still cant write to a cd :'( :'(

CD-R
Error message is
Cannot complete the CD writing wizard.

There was an error in the writing process. The disc you habe attempted to write may no longer be usable


This was a brand new disc

CD-RW

Error message is
Windows does not support this CD-RWformat.  To use this disc, choose the task erase this CD-RW, which will format the disc so that windows can use it

Cannot complete the CD writing.

This was a brand new disc also, so I then formatted it and still get this message.


PLEASE someone help me as I am pulling my hair out.

I have even tried using the regedit,  into CD burning, drives, volume, drive type and changed it, but changed it back and took an original copy also.

But nothing seems to work.

It is weired as I used to be able to copy/write to any cd-r & cd-rw.

Is it possible something to do with an update from XP?????

to copy nothing,  I am just using xp's drag & drop etc

You need a burning software babe....like the one in windows media player.....is that the one?? download nero6......from majorgeeks .com.....forget wmp.....

Windows XP Roxio should work, but you should try a program such as Nero to see it that works.
