Title: What the heck!?!?
Post by: PChelpp on February 27, 2010, 03:50:08 PM
Ok so I am trying to load a game and it says: "Failed to enumerate a directx 9 compatible card"   I have an ATI 4850 with Direct 10c, but on dxdiag it says I have 11c.   How can I get rid of 11c, and make my card compatible?

Where is this game from ? ?
DX10 and higher all support DX9 so either it's the game or a hardware setting...

With Windows Vista/7, they both come with DirectX10 or 11.

However, DirectX 10 and 11 are not backward compatible for use with DirectX9 or earlier.

In order to play a DX9 or earlier game on Windows Vista or Windows 7, you need to install the DirectX9 run-time. the web setup can be found here (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displayLang=en).

Except that he's using Vista, which comes with DX10 (DX11 with SP2)
