Will a cat6 crossover adapter work on a cat5 patch cable?
What I want to buy.

Yes, but why would you need it?
-
Yes, the pinout should be the same regardless of the cable quality.
... also true, that most modern switches and NICs will auto-detect the need for crossover, so the point is somewhat null
-
To turn a patch cable into a crossover.
its cheaper then buying another 50ft cable.
what im doing requires a crossover, ive tried using the patch cable for it.
my short crossover cable is the only one that worked.
So it will work?
-
Are connecting computer to computer, no router or switch?
-
yeah, but more like original xbox to computer.
-
I know nothing about xbox connectivity. Are you sure all it needs is a crossover?
-
Yeah, i tested it with a crossover and patch, so all i need to know is if the adapter i wanna buy will work if the cord is cat5.
it seems you guys answered that though, so thanks.
-
thanks again, i probably wont check back unless it doesn't work, but it should.
bye.

Yes, it will work with enhanced transmission.
Cat5 is the older Ethernet cable standard,
Cat6 is newer and will support 10 Gigabit, will improve Gigabit preformance.
