When I load windows 98 without the boot floppy, I get 'missing or corrupted files.'These include c:/windows/himem.sys,c:/windows/dblbuff.sys, and c:/windows/isfhlp.sys. Then I get the 'unable to load Windows, cannot find win.com. All I am trying to do is reload windows 98. However, I can’t do so . When I try to specify the D drive, it comes up with ‘invalid drive specification’.

You do not know how to download or you do not know how to create a boodiskette?
-
I don't know how to download a boot diskette.
-
1. Go to http://bootdisk.com
2. Click on Bootdisks in the following phrase : DOS/Windows9X/Me/NT/2K/XP Excellent Bootdisks (http://bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm)
3. Download Windows 98 OEM (http://www.troyedwards.com/downloads/BootDisks/boot98.exe), unless you are using SE. In which case you download this (http://www.redbrick.dcu.ie/~huey/Downloads/boot98se.exe) file.
4. Format a 1.44MB diskette
5. Run the installer
6. Follow instructions
-
Now I get 'E drive not ready.
abort,retry,fail.'
-

No. As soon as you power on the computer, rapidly press the key required to enter the BIOS even your monitor is not yet displaying anything.
