Title: Remove images that replaced Win logo at startup
Post by: kfrink on July 17, 2005, 12:27:08 PM
Hi Everyone.

I am trying to remove images from a screensaver theme that I downloaded onto my computer.  I have completely uninstalled the screensaver theme, however at startup instead of showing the Windows logo the computer displays an image from the screensaver theme.  At shut down the computer also displays antoher image from the wallpaper.

I have tried almost everything.  I have gotten suggestions to reinstalll logo.sys files, and logonsys files from the Windows XP CD.  But I still get these images.

Please help.  Thank you.

If you have created a backup of ntoskrnl.exe prior to installation of the new ntoskrnl.exe (To change the background), initialize the back-up by overwriting the current ntoskrnl.exe

When I reinstalled the ntoskrnl file there was not one present on my computer.  I was under the impression that the wallpaper had destroyed my ntoskrnl file.  I reinstalled the file back onto the c:\drive.  The images still continue to appear.  What am I doing wrong?

kfrink........ If you are confident you are free from any viruses trojans and spyware ............ use the system restore function of XP and restore back to just before you installed the new theme .
