Title: Iphone jailbreak
Post by: Arsenalftw on June 01, 2010, 06:02:43 PM
Hey guys, basically, i want to unlock my iphone so i can use any sim i want. i tried jailbreaking with blackra1n, but everytime i close my phone i have to restore it, and it automatically updated my phone to 3.1.3 -.-

now, can someone give me a step by step instruction on how to jailbreak my iphone 3.1.3 and unlock it? if there is no jailbreaking for 3.1.3, how do i downgrade it to 3.1.2 then jailbreak/unlock it?

i've tried using snowfreeze or whatever its called, but when i try and restore it using a custom ipw file made from the snowfreeze jailbreak program, it doesnt work.

help pleasee

My understanding is that we didn't help because it was illegal, but that is no longer the case.

As of July 26, jailbreaking is legal in the US.

And this topic was created on June 02.

So then what is the point of the forum? for us to tell people to learn to use google?

Carbon, given the legality of jailbreaking now, is it still against the forum's policies to give out advice on it?

Understandably we don't want to give out info on pirating, but jailbreaking is now explicity legal and jailbreaking itself is not pirating.

Just fyi, jailbreaking has not been legalized worldwide. If you wish to divulge the information however, I won't stop you.

I'll contact our admin, see where he stands on the topic.

Actually, it's not that it hasn't been legalized.  jailbreaking has never been illegal, it just was not expressly stated that it was legal.

I am a firm believer in jailbreaking and unlocking your iPhone, but not in pirating software for anything, let alone an iPhone.

While there may be some countries where they decide to make jailbreaking illegal, there are none to my knowledge yet.

All that jailbreaking will do is void your apple warranty.

Anyway, the laws that govern this site are US laws, Utah to be exact i.e. if it's legal in Utah, it's legal here.

I fully agree. I would see no problem with someone "hacking" an iPhone and using Linux on it, but if they pirated Windows and used that on the iPhone then I'd see a major problem.
