Title: Win ME Virus problem in C:\_Restore\Archive
Post by: stevenvamp on July 27, 2005, 06:25:47 AM
McAfee has found adware programs contained in several FS***.CAB files in C:\_RESTORE\ARCHIVE, and unfortunately these files are write protected.  While I suspect these files are restore points created by Win ME, I'd like to delete them, or at least turn off the write protection so McAfee can clean them.  I've tried the ATTRIB command with no success.  Any suggestions?

Disable system restore and rescan in safe mode.

Once the virus is removed, you can safely reinitialize system restore.
