Title: Windows 7 conflict with canon printer software
Post by: pursuant on November 01, 2010, 10:46:36 AM
I am running windows 7 home premium. I have a Canon MX860 printer and the software that came with for the pc interface is some how blocked. I contacted Canon and they had me set up another user account and the software worked fine. They suggested there is something in windows that is blocking it, perhaps something to do with permissions?
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks

Exactly what happens when you try to install it?

Have you tried this:  right-click on the installer file and choose "run as administrator". Let's see if that works.

It seems to install correctly, but when I run the program, I get a message saying "MP navigator has stopped working".

Look at the link below. You probably have a corrupt profile:

Thanks, I followed the link and created a new account and transferred the files it suggested and the new profile did work with the Canon software but isn't it suppose to re create my desktop from the previous user account? In any case it didn't . So I am left with rebuilding it just to have this software work?

Thanks again

There should be a folder named "desktop" - just copy it to the new account.
