Title: Computer Speakers Help
Post by: JenBubbles on December 16, 2010, 06:08:39 PM
I have a Dell Windows XP and i took it to the shop for repairs but when i got it back and started to listen to a cd the music was playing from my modem. I have always used my own personal speakers and i don't like the music playing from the modem so how can i switch it back to my regular speakers? I already tried going to control panel and it still did not change.

Welcome!
Computer Hope is the number one location for free computer help. We help everyone with all computer questions.

When you sent you computer to the shop you did remove the speaker plug, of course. But when you plugged the speakers back in it was not the same hole.

Either the technician moved the hole, -
or you forgot which hole it was. :P

Well when i use my windows Media Player to listen to my music the sound is no longer coming from my speakers but is playing from.... the big black box that says Dell. It is a modem right? Please don't laugh : )

I put the plug in the right spot and i even tried other holes to see if it would help but nothing changed.

So then, the music always comes out nod your modem?
We don't understand that.  Are you on Saturn?
Are you sure it comes from your modem?
Or did you mean one of your Moons?
That is not impossible. But more lily Pepsi Cola will start a franchise on Titan.

I don't believe Dell makes external modems; and they certainly aren't big black boxes; it sounds like you might mean the computer tower?

You're sure you plugged the Speakers into the green hole? Are you using on-board sound, or is it an external card?
