Dear Forum,
I have a new netbook coming tomorrow. It comes without OS (it has something called Asus Express Gate).
It is an Asus Eee PC 1215T. I have my installation disc for XP from my desktop computer. Is there a way to install from my desktop, since there is no optical drive in the netbook?
Thanks!
Mike

Wouldn't this be against the XP EULA, unless he uninstalled it from the desktop computer first?

Is this Ubuntu thing good?
Thanks!

Only you can decide that...
They have a "Live" version...it runs off the CD and doesn't need to be installed if you just want to test it...

Probably thinking of certain versions of Microsoft Office which allow installation on one desktop and one portable device.

No. It has never been as far as I'm aware.
And if it's OEM you can't even move it from one one computer to another.

I installed one OEM XP on three computers. (All three are of the same maker.)

I meant you can't legally.

Well the need to chime in and state I've done that overrides the points being made...

He made a very thoughtless and silly post, very much against what this forum stands for. I am very disappointed but not (these days) too surprised. I am deliberately being careful with my language.
