Title: WRT54G Router
Post by: Larry Woller on March 25, 2011, 12:24:14 PM
Hello All,
I have a Linksys WRT54G Router and thought I would change some of the settings, it has been a long time since I opened the Admin page... the router works fine, I am on the internet but when I type http://192.168.1.1 in the Navigation toolbar, I cannot access the site, nothing comes up.. have rebooted, etc without any success.. I still have the CD that came with the router, would that help me access the page??
Thank you,
Larry

is there a little pin hole or something that you can reset the router to factory defaults?

My desktop says IP address 192.168.1.100, assigned by DHCP.. my laptop, which is on a wireless card, says Client IP Address 192.168.1.102

I did ping the router on Command Prompt and got a reply, but went to attempt to open setup page and could not... tomorrow if I have time will use the cd to see if the firmware is corrupt and perhaps fix it, if not there is a good chance that part of the router may be dead..just speculating.. works fine otherwise, just cannot access the setup page...

Ok, Yes I am not sure what is up, or why you couldn't long on to it. I have had issues in the past where I will turn off DCHP and can't log on it.. but it sounds liek you have it on anyway

When you run an IPConfig what shows for Default Gateway.

Here is the link for other resets as well.

Pressing the Reset button on the back of the router for 30 seconds will reset your router to its factory default settings.  All of the settings of the router will then be erased and the router’s IP address will become 192.168.1.1.

Pinged the router a couple of more times, apparently it woke the router up,  ;),  and were able to access the setup page...had the cd ready to reload but luckily didn't have to.. all is fine..................... this time...

Thanks again for all the replies and efforts to assist...

Mine does this often also. I hold the reset button in, pull the power wire and hold for and additional 30 seconds. Sometimes I mus do this 2-3 times before it will reset. I have at one time been able to get back to the setup page without clearing all settings. Just the routers little quirk
