Title: Registry Problem HELP!
Post by: ZachSand on April 04, 2011, 08:13:10 PM
I downloaded Microsoft Visual C++ Express. When I tried to create a new project it gave me an error saying that the project creation failed.

Somehow after a bit of looking for solutions I was suggested to do this
http://www.brianpeek.com/blog/archiv...try-issue.aspx

At first my window looked like the second picture considered to be the "problem".

I changed it to match the first picture.

Now I can't open anything. When I try to open something I get this error: C/Windows/system32/CompMgmt.msc
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel".
(The only way I had firefox opened, was it was up when I changed all the permissions)

I tried opening Run to go back and change it to what it was orignally, but I can't even open that.

I'm running Windows Vista 32 Bit.

Save me

I have no idea what you did and the link you posted goes nowhere, but try system restore to go back to before you messed up the works.

This looks like the full link http://www.brianpeek.com/blog/archive/2007/11/29/weird-vista-registry-issue.aspx

I agree with Allan that System Restore is the easiest solution to repair the registry.  If you can't run System Restore from within Vista do you have a Vista installation disc?
